Bird Cage Tag

Good evening everyone.
I do hope everyone is well and happy and that Friday 13th has been kind to you.
I have been such a bad blogger of late.....not blogged for ages!!!
Well it is my fellow crafting friend's birthday today and I bought her a vintage bird cage tea light holder. Well I just had to put Tim Holtz some where into the equation so I made a tag to hang from the bird cage....

The tag is a Tim Holtz alterations tag die cut from Kraft card coloured with distress inks. I then stamped with Tim's papillon stamps and added a bird cage cut from the alterations die. This was coloured with bronze crackle glaze. I coloured the bird with distress inks and added a tiny gem for his eye.
I embelished the cage with bling, flowers and beaded ribbon from my stash.  The ribbon to hang the cage was scrunched and sprayed with shimmer mist and I added a piece of string to hang the tag.
I like the way it turned out and hope my friend enjoys her prezzie.
Thanks for peeking.

Altered Heart

Hi all,

Thought I would share this project with you.  A young friend of mine was re-decorating her bedroom and brought me a bag full of oddments that she thought I might be able to re-cycle!

Well one of the items was this wooden heart:

After painting it with gesso, several times, I painted it purple with acrylic paint.  Added a doylie, flowers, swirls and a die cut butterfly.  The small butterflies and pearls were cut from a stem which was also in the bag of oddments.  Added a pink ribbon bow and some wire to hang it.

My friend has hung it in her newly decorated purple bedroom.

Thanks for looking

Altered mirror

Hi everyone,

Its been a little while since I added anything....well its that time of the year and the allotment is taking up alot of time and energy in preparation for planting!

Thought I would share this plain pine coloured wooden framed  mirror which my fellow crafter, Debbie had brought to one of our get togethers one evening as a challenge for each of us.

I had such fun inking the front of it with distressed photo ink.  I then covered it in plain terracotta coloured paper which I first distressed the edges and then stamped all over with one of the Tim Holtz stamps.  I then stamped the Eiffel Tower image in 2 of the corners (one of my favourite stamps).  I went a bit mad with the flowers....some of which I made myself.  I added some butterflys which I had die cut from black card and the left over terracotta paper and added some stickles for a bit of sparkle

Thank you Debbie..... I love it.

Inspired by music......and a hand made taffeta ribbon flower

Hello out there

Just posting this and then an early night for me. I've been nursing a head ache this evening but I think my head is in need of brain rest! lol

This is a scrap book page created during a scrap booking evening at Grimsby Crafts with the lovely Polly.

Polly showed us how to make the ribbon flower which I was so pleased with and have since made a few more. This one was made using double sided ribbon which turned out really well I think.  The page is also enhanced with butterflies and music notes

.

Thanks for taking the time to look.

Marilyn

Hello,

Hope everyone is well.  I have had a lovely evening crafting....losing myself  to time .... where does it fly to?

I created this frame from a piece of cardboard cut from a cardboard box.  Covered it in plain dark brown paper after cutting the square out of the middle.  Covered the front of it with more paper (think its 'My minds eye') of which I distressed and inked. I used the Tim Holtz bird cage die to cut out the skirt for the dress form and added ribbon and some punched out flowers to it.  I made the roses from the Tim Holtz pinecone die (lurve making these roses).  A flourish of bling in the corner (cos diamonds are a girl's best friend!), and finished off by adding the black and white photo of Marilyn.

Prom Night

Hello my friends

I would like to share a bit of scrappy happyness with you.

It was my grandaughter, Jasmine's school Prom in June 2010.  There were lots of photos taken of her and her many friends in their beautiful dresses and tuxedos.  In a lot of cases what happens to all those photos?

I scrapped alot of Jaz's photos into a mini scrap album which I made out of mint green envelopes that I had in my stash.  They were a perfect match to her gorgeous dress that I had the pleasure to help her choose on that fun day when she tried on many, but fell in love with the chosen one as soon as she put it on.

The cover of the album was made from chip board which I painted with acrylics and covered with paper. The large flower was the large flower from the tattered floral die cut out of grunge paper (I love grunge paper), inked and embossed. I put a photo of Jaz into a tiny metal frame and used it as the centre of the flower.  Two small grunge paper flowers from the same die and some painted chip board letters complete the cover.

A tag on the binding (done with my bind it all machine) and a few ribbons and beads to decorate.  I also put a tiny photo into one of the Tim Holtz fragments - the guys in their tuxedo's, and hung it with ribbon from the binding.

I'm not going to show you every page, it would take me ages, there are quite alot of them!  But as the book opens I inked and painted a body form die cut and stuck marabou feathers on the page to make the skirt ot the dress,  Some bling finished it off.

This next page shows a photo of Jaz as she has finished getting ready and how beautiful she looks.  The page gives room for journaling.

I enlarged the tiara and cropped it from one of the photo's and stuck some bling to it. Stuck this to a page to form a pocket.  I made a little concertina photo album to sit in the pocket.

Cheers Girlies!!!

A limo to take them all to the prom.  Each page had a tag inside so that more photos could be put in the album.  This is one side of one of the tags and another journaling spot.  Each tag had photos on each side.

Another one of the tags - A rainbow of beautiful girlies.

Another page with a journaling spot.  This page I made from cropping the bodice of her dress and blowing the image up to make it larger, then printed it onto plain paper and embelished it with bling.

I had great fun making this scrappy and Jaz was really pleased with it.  She enjoyed her prom and I hope she will continue to enjoy this album which holds her memories.

Thank you for taking the time to look at this

Quirky tag

Hello my friends,
A few weeks ago I spent an evening of crafty happiness with 3 like minded friends. We all made something different by dipping into Polly's stash and just having a play.
Using a tag, cardstock, paints, stickles, Kaisercraft bubbles, bandage, ribbon, beaded fibre, a Dylusion quote and the Stampotique stamp - Smumanha ...... take a look at my finished item. Funny and quirky but I just love it.

Cup cakes

Hello my friends,
One of the many lovely gifts I received for my recent birthday was a cupcake stand.  I love, love, love it but, for those who know me well will know that anything to do with the oven is too much of a stressful ordeal for me.  (Took me 2 years to fathom out how to turn it on....that's the truth)
So, I thought, they don't have to be edible cupcakes, I will use it as a display feature to show off some of those cupcake novelties you can buy such as candles, bath bombs etc.  Then I thought, why not try making some from whatever I could find in my stash....... this is my 1st attempt and I am quite pleased with it.....does it look good enough to eat? lol

Door hanging

Saturday evening I walked around to Polly's to spend an evening of creativity.  Polly, being the very generous lady she is, surprised me with a door hanging and  offering me a free hand into her stash encouraged me to turn it into something Tim Holtz.

OK ...... covering it with Tim Holtz Butterflies Kraft Resist Paper and embelishing with the Fanciful Flight die cut, some 'colouring in', stickles, bling, lace and fibres .... here it is.

Beauty

Just thought I would share a photo of my eldest GD Hannah.

Pure white background enhanced with hearts and squares donned with flowers and leaves.

This was a page we created at Grimsby Crafts with the lovely and talented Polly.

Hanny doesn't like me taking photos of her but she took this one herself and gave it to me......thank you Hanny its lovely.

Exploding Box

Hello my friends,

One of the ladies where I work was retiring.  We had a collection amongst the staff for her and decided to give her the cash so she could choose something that she really wanted.  Instead of putting the cash inside a card I thought a surprise element was called for.

I hid the money inside the box within the box....

Remove the lid and the sides fall down to reveal the floating butterflies and flowers and the inner box.

Hope you like it, and thanks for looking.

Late night telly

Ooooh its soooo late but T!m Holtz is on Craft Day on QVC.  I've set my digi box to record all his shows throughout the day.  Yummy yummy.  He is so inspirational.
Can't wait to come home from work tomorrow and watch all those shows.
Better go to bed or I won't be able to get up for work!!! Ninight....

Angel tag

One more post for today....
One of Tim Holtz die tags, subtly inked with Ranger distress inks (can't remember which colours now!) Stamped with one of my favourite stamps and adorned with another of Tim Holtz die cuts, the Sewing Room.
I covered the body form with silver ribbon for the bodice and wrapped some silver organza fabric around to make the skirt. (The organza was cut from apiece that was wrapped around a bouquet of flowers I had been given for my birthday) I never throw anything away!!! A piece of silver ribbon tied around the waist to keep it all together.  Added some angel wings and a few bling...da da.....
Hope you like it.

Lady in Red

Hello my friends.
Just before Christmas the lovely Polly ran a workshop at Grimsby Crafts.  It was inspired by Julie Nutting Designs.
A fantastic day, enjoyed by all the ladies who attended.
We drew our croquis on to paper, cut it out, inked the outline slightly  and dressed it.
The dress was built up with various layers of cardstock which we cut out and embossed and then enhanced the embossing with metallic shimmer.  The dress was then embelished with a flower die cut and some bling to finish it off.
We drew and cut out the hair, embossed and coloured it and glued it to the croquis head.  A slight dusting of chalk to the cheeks enhanced the face.
The background was the reverse side of a piece of wallpaper. I used stamps and distress inks to create my background.
The image was then framed.
I was so delighted with my finished lady that I made another one and gave them to my daughters as Christmas gifts.  I then had to make myself one because I loved them so much.
I made mine in red to match the decor of my room where it now hangs on the wall in there.
Please take a peek
